Symphony of Light
Location: Chemers Gallery, 17300 17th St, Ste. G, Tustin, CA
Event Dates: 2/27/2010 - 6/27/2010
Reception: 2/27/2010 • 4 PM - 7 PM
This collection of pastel paintings, presented by Chemers Gallery, is inspired by the beautiful way light organizes form and conveys vitality, movement and timelessness. The musical poetry of Chopin and the delight of Mozart, and the inspiration of Vermeer, Rembrandt, Rodin, Van Gogh are a few of the many master painters and musicians who, in giving form to their idea of beauty, have influenced my work.
Please come by and say hello!

Composition, Beauty, and Meaning: Creating beautiful art through still life painting
Location: San Clemente Art Supply
Event Dates: 5/15/2010 - 5/16/2010
Painting the still life can be an end in itself or one of the best tools for developing important skills for painting any subject in any medium. In this two day workshop, students will learn to compose a still life starting with the arrangement of shapes into a beautiful underlying abstract design. From there, we will slowly bring still life to life, manipulating values, color and edges. Students will have the opportunity to observe a demonstration in soft pastel and to produce one to two small paintings over the course of two days. As the workshop is principles-based rather than about a specific technique, students may choose to work with their own photos if they prefer and in any medium of their choice. Some drawing and painting experience is helpful. Class limit: 12 students
