I swept all other projects aside to dive into this painting of these beautiful peonies while they were fresh. Kept the background elements simple and clean to emphasize the unbelievable richness and complexity of the petals. The subtle gradation of light in the background--from light on the right--to more subdued moving to the left was also significant.
